COVID-19 Situation- May 4th
Dear ,

We hope you had a nice weekend, whether you spent it at work caring for Ontarians, connecting virtually with friends and loved ones or decompressing and practicing your own self care.

This week, we continue to urge the government to release more details about the roll out of pandemic pay that we know you're eagerly awaiting. We were advised that we should be receiving additional information in the coming days and will share it as soon as possible.

Key Provincial Updates and Resources for Health Professionals
Today the Ontario government announced it has significantly increased testing and contact tracing capacity to 16,000 tests a day.

A new guidance document has been created for Labour, Delivery and Newborn Care.

A Guidance Document for essential, non-health care workplaces was developed and outlines what workplaces can do to prevent the spread of COVID-19

Key Federal Updates
Over the weekend, Justin Trudeau announced the federal government is investing $240 million to boost access to online health services, including mental-health support and virtual access to doctors for primary care during COVID-10.

Ottawa also announced the creation of a new COVID-19 Supply Council in charge of stockpiling PPE  

The Federal government also announced a $175 million investment in a Vancouver-based company's research into treatment and prevention of COVID-19.

Daily Reports
As of 10:30AM today, Ontario reported 17,923 confirmed cases (increase of 370), 12,505 resolved cases, 1,300 deaths and 6,265 currently under investigation with lab results pending.

The Ministry is also reporting that 984 patients are hospitalized with COVID-19, 225 are in ICU and 175 are vented. To view these additional details: click here
