A few weeks ago, we mentioned that nursing leaders Gail Donner and Mary Wheeler would be hosting weekly Nursing Chats throughout May to provide a forum for nurses and nursing students to come together to tell their stories and talk about their experiences in this pandemic. Key Provincial Updates and Resources for Health Professionals
Today, the Premier announced that thousands of people have answered the government's call to deliver food, run errands and connect with seniors and people with disabilities during COVID-19.
Over the weekend, the government issued newdirection on testing for COVID-19. Effective immediately testing is available for the following populations:
Symptomatic testing:
All people with at least one symptom of COVID-19, even for mild symptoms. Please see the “Guidance for All Populations” of the Testing Guidance Update for details about the symptoms.
Asymptomatic, risk-based testing:
People who are concerned that they have been exposed to COVID-19. This includes people who are contacts of or may have been exposed to a confirmed or suspected case.
People who are at risk of exposure to COVID-19 through their employment, including essential workers (e.g., health care workers, grocery store employees, food processing plants).
The Ministry has updated guidance for Primary Care Providers in a Community Setting. Highlights of changes include expanded guidance for in-person care for essential visits, testing and specimen collection, and occupational health and safety. A list of key resources
is also included within the updated document.
Minor corrections were made to Directive 3 to
update dates within the document.
Key Federal Updates Today, Prime Minister Justin Trudeauannouncedthat applications are now being accepted for Canada Emergency Commercial Rent Assistance (CECRA) for small businesses.
The Prime Minister also said the government would be working with the provinces to institute up to 10 days of paid sick leave.

As of 10:30AM today, Ontario reported 25,904 confirmed cases (increase of 404), 19,698 resolved cases, 2,102 deaths and 3,883 currently under investigation with lab results pending.
The Ministry is also reporting that 859 patients are hospitalized with
