Key Provincial Updates and Resources for Health Professionals
Today, the government announced it would be extending the Declaration of Emergency under the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act until June 2.This additional time is intended ensure the province has the necessary tools and health care capacity to contain COVID-19, while gradually reopening businesses, services, and amenities safely.
The ministry has updated the Acute Care guidance
document. Key changes include: oAdded the outbreak definition in public hospitals and guidance for outbreak detection and management oAdded summary of PPE precautions table Friday’s Command Table memo is available here
Over the weekend, the government approved an emergency order that would enable available school board employees to
be voluntarily redeployed to congregate care settings during the COVID-19 pandemic, including hospitals, long-term care homes, retirement homes, and women's shelters.
Key Federal Updates Today, the Federal government announced additional support for seniors. Those seniors who qualify for Old Age Security (OAS) will be eligible for a one-time, tax-free payment of $300, and those eligible for the Guaranteed Income Supplement (GIS) will get
an extra $200.
Yesterday, the Prime Minister announced additional support for businesses, including the creation of a Large Employer Emergency Financing Facility (LEEFF) to provide bridge financing to Canada’s largest employers, whose needs during the pandemic are not being met through conventional financing, in order to keep their operations going.

As of 10:30AM today, Ontario reported 20,907confirmed cases (increase of 361), 15,391 resolved cases, 1,725 deaths and 10,811currently under investigation with lab results pending.
The Ministry is also reporting that 1,025 patients are hospitalized with COVID-19, 192 are in ICU and 14 are vented.
