COVID-19 Situation
Dear ,

Each day we're thinking of new ways to support RPNs through this extremely difficult and stressful time. We've told you about the ongoing advocacy we've been doing to ensure the government urgently increases our supplies of PPE so you can safely care for patients and residents. We'll also be hosting another Facebook Live event next Tuesday April 7th to hear your concerns and answer your questions.

We're also launching a new series of Free On-Demand Webinars for Nurses by Nurses. These webinars are focused on Self Care and De-Escalation and that provide practical tools and tips to support you in your practice. Check out our latest one Stress and Coping

Urgent Jobs During COVID-19
We continue to receive information from organizations seeking to hire more nurses to support the COVID-19 response. Three new postings are available on the COVID-19 Staff Needed section .

As noted yesterday,  Health Force Ontario continues to recruit health professionals, please consider signing up if you're looking for a role.

The Ontario government is investing $12M to immediately expand online and virtual mental health supports.

numbers on Friday

The Ministry of Health's Command Table, the group leading the pandemic response, has issued the following summary of key actions taken following a meeting yesterday.

The Ministry has released new guidance for Long-Term Care Home Outbreaks

Additonal new guidance documents for Group Homes and Homeless Shelters have been created.

Key Federal Updates
At his daily press conference this morning, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said Canada yesterday received one million masks in Hamilton, bringing to 11 million the number of masks received in the last few days. The government continues to work with the provinces on the distribution of that equipment.

The federal government has ordered “hundreds of thousands” of face shields from hockey equipment manufacturer Bauer.

Daily Reports
As of 10:30AM today, Ontario reported 2,793 confirmed cases, 831 resolved cases, 53 deaths and 2,052 currently under investigation with lab results pending.

The Ministry is now also reporting that 405 patients are hospitalized with COVID-19, 167 are in ICU and 112 are vented. To view these additional details: click here
