Member Update:
COVID-19 Situation- June 3rd
Dear ,

Given that many RPNs are interested in opportunities for further specialization, we want to bring to your attention that the Canadian Nurses Association (CNA) is now offering certifications for RPNs in Medical Surgury (new this year) and Gerontology. CNA certification is a nationally recognized nursing specialty credential for nurses.

We were pleased to support the development of the RPN certification exams over the past several months and encourage RPNs interested in these areas to consider applying. RPNs are invited to apply to take the exam from now until September 10th. Click here to learn more.

Resumption of Health Services
The Government's updated Directive #2 offers guidance to health care providers on the resumption of non-essential health services, along with the supplemental document, Operational Requirements for Health Sector Restart. We encourage foot care nurses and other nurses in independent practice to refer to these documents to guide your practice as you consider resuming services.

Key Provincial Updates and Resources for Health Professionals
Ontario has extended its state of emergency until June 30, 2020 and gatherings larger than five people are still banned.

Today, the government announced it is investing $150 million in reliable broadband and cellular service for rural, remote and underserved areas of the province.

Ontario also released the 2020 Local Food Report: Ontario Spirit – A Celebration of Local Food Collaboration, which highlights actions taken by local agri-food producers to keep the provincial supply chain strong during the pandemic.

For more information, we encourage you to visit the Ministry of Health and Public Health Ontario website

Key Federal Updates
The Prime Minister did not hold his daily COVID press conference today.

Yesterday, the federal government signed a contract for 37 million syringes — roughly enough for the entire Canadian population — as it prepares for “mass vaccinations” against COVID-19.

For more information, we encourage you to visit the Government of Canada website.
