Key Provincial Updates and Resources for Health Professionals Today Premier Ford and Finance Minister Rod Phillips announced a new commitment of $241 million through a new Ontario-Canada Emergency Commercial Rent Assistance Program (OCECRA). Combined with the federal government, this package will equate to approximately $900 million to help small and medium sized businesses bridge until provincial emergency measures are lifted.
Yesterday, the Government of
Ontario announcedthe extension of all emergency orders to May 6, 2020.
Ontario has introduced a new measure to allow mental health and addictions agencies to redeploy staff within different locations or between
programs, and employ extra part-time staff, temporary staff or contractors in order to ensure people continue receiving quality care they deserve during the COVID-19 outbreak.
The government issued a new memo regarding transfers from hospitals to retirement homes.

Key Federal Updates As per the provincial
update above, the Prime Minister announced that the federal government has reached an agreement in principle with all provinces and territories to implement the Canada Emergency Commercial Rent
Assistance (CECRA) for small businesses. This program will lower rent by 75 per cent for small businesses that have been affected by COVID-19.

As of 10:30AM today, Ontario reported 13,519confirmed cases (increase of 640), 7,087 resolved cases, 763 deaths and 5,414 currently under investigation with lab results pending.
The Ministry is also reporting that 910 patients are hospitalized with COVID-19, 243 are in ICU and 193 are vented.
