Seeking RPNs in Northern Ontario for COVID-19 study
Colleagues at Laurentian University are recruiting RPNs to participate a research study to study to explore the mental health of nurses in northern Ontario working during the COVID-19 global pandemic. This study aims to understand the perspective and experiences of nurses; their support needs to cope with the COVID-19 crisis, and its consequences. Participants are asked to complete a 15 minute survey. Read the letter of invitation.

Key Provincial Updates and Resources for Health Professionals
Today,  the government announced it is investing $3.7 million as part of the 2021 Budget to help seniors and people with disabilities get their COVID-19 vaccinations, where transportation is a barrier. The Province is launching this initiative to remove that barrier and ensure that anyone who wants a vaccine is able to get a vaccine.

Yesterday, Ontario announced over $1.2 billion in funding for Ontario hospitals. This investment is intended to help hospitals manage the financial pressures created by COVID-19 and to tackle a post-pandemic backlog of rescheduled surgeries and non-urgent procedures.

The government has released updated Guidance for Prioritization for Phase 2 Vaccinations.

Beginning yesterday, Ontario residents aged 75 and older may begin booking appointments to receive a COVID-19 vaccine through the provincial booking system. According to Premier Ford, as of noon, approximately 90,000 appointments have been booked by members of this age group. The province has also now surpassed the 1.5 million mark for total doses administered.

Late Friday afternoon, the government announced that eight public health units (PHUs) were being moved to new levels of the province’s COVID-19 Response Framework. The government  also revised capacity limits for bars, restaurants, and other food and drink establishments for regions in the Grey-Lockdown, Red-Control, and Orange-Restrict levels of the Framework.
