Key Provincial Updates and Resources for Health Professionals
Today, the Ministry of Long-Term Care announced it has approved a new Voluntary Management Contract that allows The Ross Memorial Hospital to provide enhanced support to Caressant Care on McLaughlin Road, a long-term care home in Lindsay, Ontario.

Yesterday, Minister of Labour, Training, and Skills Development, Monte McNaughton, and Minister of Long-Term Care, Dr. Merrilee Fullerton, announced a $4.1 million investment to train 373 new personal support workers.

Also yesterday,
Premier Doug Ford, Solicitor General, Sylvia Jones, and Associate Minister of Children and Women’s Issues, Jill Dunlop, announced the introduction of the Combatting Human Trafficking Act. If passed, the new legislation will strengthen the ability of children’s aid societies and law enforcement to protect exploited children, support survivors in obtaining restraining orders, and provide law enforcement with more tools to locate victims and charge traffickers.

On Friday,
the Ontario government announced its decision to extend the current regional shutdowns and stay-at-home orders for an additional two weeks in the public health units (PHUs) of Toronto, Peel, and North Bay-Parry Sound. As a result, these PHUs will remain subject to current shutdown measures until at least March 8th.
