Key Provincial Updates and Resources for Health Professionals
Today, the government announced it is extending certain measures to keep students, education staff, and residents of Northern Ontario safe. This includes extending online teacher-led learning until January 25, 2021 for elementary school students in the 27 Southern Ontario public health unit regions and extending the shutdown in Northern Ontario for another 14 days, aligning with the shutdown period in Southern Ontario.
Yesterday, Premier Doug Ford and Deputy Premier and Minister of Health, Christine Elliott, announced the launch of a border testing pilot program at Toronto Pearson International Airport. The program will enable eligible international travellers to receive a free and voluntary COVID-19 test at Pearson Airport. The testing program is idented to quickly identify new cases of COVID-19 and further prevent the spread of the virus in Canada.
This evening, the Prime Minister will be meeting with Premiers to discuss the pace of the vaccine roll out across the country

As of 10:30AM today, Ontario reported 204,145 confirmed cases (increase of 3,519), 172,571 resolved cases, 4,856 deaths.
The Ministry is also reporting that 1,472 patients are hospitalized with COVID-19, 363 are in ICU and 242 are vented. To view these additional details:click here
