Seeking RPNs for Research Study Western University is seeking RPNs to participate in a research study which aims to understand the experiences and support needs of family members and long-term care home residents who have been physically separated during the current COVID-19 pandemic. If you are an RPN in a long-term care home who worked during the COVID-19 pandemic you are eligible to participate in the study.
To participate, you would be asked to participate in 50 minute interview using Zoom or through the telephone in which various questions relating to your experience
supporting family members and residents connect during the COVID-19 pandemic will be explored. You will receive a $25 PC gift card.
Key Provincial Updates and Resources for Health Professionals Today, the government released updated provincial modelling that shows that key indicators for the pandemic are flattening in some regions, but long-term care deaths, ICU occupancy rates continue to
rise.
The government also announced it is providing $13.6 million to enable school boards to hire more teachers and staff in regions recently moved to the Red-Control level and providing stabilization funding for school boards, if needed. The province is also expanding testing in school communities and launching new online learning portals.
Yesterday, the governmentissued preliminary public health guidance for Ontarians ahead of the 2020 holiday season. The guidance reminds Ontarians that the safest way to celebrate the holidays this year is by doing so only with those living in one’s own household. Those who live alone are permitted to join one other household. Yesterday, the Auditor General (AG) of Ontario, Bonnie Lysyk, released a Special Report on Ontario’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The AG’s report focused on three key areas: emergency management and pandemic response; outbreak planning and decision-making; and laboratory testing, case management and contact tracing. Ultimately, the AG’s report concluded that Ontario’s COVID-19 response was slower and more reactive than that of other provinces.
Today the Minister of Health announced $6.5 million funding over 16 months for Peel Public Health to establish a safe, voluntary isolation site. This site will help Canadians in the Region of Peel who have COVID-19 or have been exposed to it have accessible accommodations to keep
themselves and their community safe.

As of 10:30AM today, Ontario reported 109,361 confirmed cases (increase of 1,478), 92,915 resolved cases, 3,575 deaths and 52,852 currently under investigation with lab results pending.
