Yesterday, the Government announced that they would be to increasing direct care for long-term care residents to 4 hours per day, up from 2.75 hours. Ensure RPN voices are heard in a Ryerson COVID-19 study
Our colleagues at Ryerson University are conducting a study to explore healthcare providers’ experiences of relational caring for older people during the COVID-19 pandemic, and the impact of the pandemic on the healthcare providers’ mental health and wellbeing. Key Provincial Updates and Resources for Health Professionals Today, the government released the Keeping Ontario Safe and Open Framework. With this framework, the government aims to ensures that
public health measures are targeted, incremental and responsive to help limit the spread of COVID-19.
The framework takes a gradual approach that includes introducing preventative measures earlier to help avoid broader closures and allow for additional public health and workplace safety measures to be introduced or removed incrementally. It categorizes public health unit regions into five levels: Green-Prevent, Yellow-Protect, Orange-Restrict, Red-Control, and Lockdown being a measure of last and urgent resort. Each level outlines the types of public health and workplace safety
measures for businesses and organizations. These include targeted measures for specific sectors, institutions and other settings.
Last Friday, Minister of Long-Term Care, announced the Community Paramedicine for Long-Term Care program in five communities across the
province. This program will help seniors on long-term care waitlists safely stay in their own homes for longer.
Last week, the federal government announcedover $200 million in new funding to provide support to Indigenous peoples and communities.

As of 10:30AM today, Ontario reported 78,705 confirmed cases (increase of 1050), 67,244 resolved cases, 3,166 deaths and 20,758 currently under investigation with lab results pending.
The Ministry is also reporting that 357 patients are hospitalized with COVID-19, 73 are in ICU and 47 are vented. To view these additional details: click here
