Key Provincial Updates and Resources for Health Professionals
Today, the government announced it will be providing $37 million to help more than 15,000 people train for new jobs and upgrade their skills to enable them to contribute to the province's economic recovery. The funding will support 86 projects and provide training in high-demand skills like information technology, advanced manufacturing, truck driving, construction, and horticulture. The programs include internships and other hands-on learning experiences, and in most cases, the training is provided at no charge.

The government also announced that Ontario Premier Doug Ford and Québec Premier François Legault will convene their first-ever Ontario-Québec Summit to advance shared priorities on economic recovery and health preparedness, issues important to the people of the two provinces. The summit will take place on September 8 and September 9, 2020 in Mississauga.

Yesterday, Premier Doug Ford announced a partnership between the Government of Ontario and public transit operators across the province to ensure riders and public transit workers can safely and confidently take public transit. Premier Ford also confirmed the government has provided health and safety guidance documents to transit operators and passengers, developed in consultation with public health and transit experts, and will allocate $15 million to municipalities to support enhanced cleaning of their transit systems as the province re-opens and Ontarians return to work and school.
