Key Provincial Updates and Resources for Health Professionals
Today, the Ontario government announced it would be investing over $500 million to build 30 new schools and make permanent additions to 15 existing facilities, supporting over 25,000 student spaces across the province.

Yesterday, Premier Doug Ford and Government House Leader, Paul Calandra, addressed media after the Ontario Legislature adjourned for the summer. Premier Ford and Minister Calandra thanked Members of Provincial Parliament (MPPs) from all parties for their hard work, and for coming together during a time of crisis.

When asked about the plan for the 2020-21 school year, Premier Ford reiterated that the government’s preference is to have kids return to in-classroom learning five days per week, especially elementary school-aged children. School boards have been asked to prepare for multiple scenarios in order to ensure that all possibilities are accounted for and the Minister of Education is working with school boards to develop creative solutions for the school year.

For more information, we encourage you to visit the Ministry of Health and Public Health Ontario website.

Key Federal Updates
Yesterday, in his briefing, Deputy Chief Public Health Officer of Canada Dr. Howard Njoo said he sees a clear increase of the COVID-19 cases in the country, as Canada had around 450 cases per day over the last four days or so, calling it a “concern”.

Canada has also procured an additional 37 million syringes and needles for COVID-19 vaccination programs. The new order brings the country’s total orders to 75 million.
